Dr. Tom is a native Augustan. He graduated from Westside High School and the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in Zoology. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1987 and has been in private practice since.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and an honorable fellow of the Georgia Dental Association. Dr. Tom has served as chairman of the peer review committee for the Eastern District of the Georgia Dental Association since 1999.

Dr. Tom and his wife Angela are members of First Baptist Church and are the proud parents of four children.
